The annual March and Festival held by Upstate Pride South Carolina (UPSC) in Barnet Park in downtown Spartanburg will be expanded in September to include a week’s worth of programs and activities.
According to the president of UPSC, Keith Keppley, each year the event grows differently to meet the needs of the community, but this year is the biggest change, making a one-day event into one that will take place over an entire week.
The week will kick off with the monthly discussion on the Monday, hosted by a collaboration between UPSC and Spoken Word Spartanburg on the interlocking of the different parts of one’s identity. Tuesday will offer a one-hour session on swing dance in the evening.
On Wednesday, at Backstreet Warehouse in Easley a bachelor and bachelorette auction will be held. This will be the first such event for UPSC, according to Keppley.
On Friday, a reception will be held with music by the Pride of Greenville Chorus and also featuring dancing, hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and line dancing. On Saturday, the March and Festival will take place all day, with family friendly performances, beer and wine, food trucks, vendors, and a fun zone for kids.
