The transferring of nine vacant properties owned by the city of Spartanburg to Oak and Ave Property Group, LLC has been approved by the Spartanburg City Council.
These properties will be used for the development of single family homes. These homes will be sold to those who earn 80 percent or below of the median income in the area and so are a measure to increase the rates of homeownership among the low to moderate income residents of the city.
The properties are throughout the Saxon-Farley and Northside neighborhoods of the city. The plans of Oak and Ave Property Group are to build homes between 1,300 and 1,600 square feet with at least two bathrooms and three bedrooms. The purchase prices for these homes will range from $210,000 to $240,000. Local Print shops often assist with spreading the word about such homes with Flyers, Brochures, and other printed materials.
Martin Livingston, Community Development Director, said that this plan meets several of the housing goals of the city, including increasing the resiliency of the community in underserved communities.
Oak and Ave Property Group has several existing partnerships with local minority builders, realtors, and mortgage companies and is a minority-led company itself. Buyers who are eligible for these homes will have funding made available to them from the home buyer closing cost assistance program of the city.
