Wendell’s in Anderson is hosting a concert by Blake Whiten this fall.

The country singer will be joined by fellow up-and-comer in the genre, Slater Nalley.

Earlier this year, Whiten released his 12-track debut album, Something To Say, which he spent two years creating before showing it to the world.

Whiten’s sound combines classic country roots music with a rock and roll and alternative influence, taking cues from acts such as Keith Whitley, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Creed and AC/DC.

Originally from Six Mile in South Carolina, Whiten first picked up the guitar at just 7 years old. Since then, thanks to the support of his community, he has used the memories of his upbringing as inspiration throughout the album.

To give back to his community, Whiten returned to Six Mile shortly after the album’s release to host a gas and food giveaway event at a local market before performing in an impromptu concert on his truck bed.

Meanwhile, Slater Nalley made his way into the mainstream thanks to an audition on “American Idol” featuring his own original song, “Foolish Pride,” which became a hit.
