Anderson is hosting a unique comedy this winter with the Market Theatre’s performance of The Play That Goes Wrong.
In this meta-narrative, a theatre is scrambling to get it together on the opening night of its new play, The Murder at Haversham Manor. However, things go wrong after props go missing, sets collapse, and actors need a helping hand just to stand upright and recite their lines. Meanwhile, the play about a murder mystery becomes all too real behind the scenes.
The chaos only unravels from there as the comedy continues to up the ante on delivering jokes and outlandish situations.
The Olivier Award-winning Broadway comedy is said to have shades of Monty Python mixed with classic detective story tropes. The play is recommended for ages eight and up.
The Market Theatre’s presentation of the play is directed by David Veatch. It is based on the original Broadway play written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, which debuted at the Lyceum Theatre in 2017.
