An annual event at Ballyhoo Petting Zoo in Anderson will welcome the fall season with family-friendly activities.
Plenty of farm- and gourd-themed activities will accompany more playground-like fare, such as bounce houses. In between navigating the zoo filled with pumpkin patches and hay rides, craft vendors, mazes and train rides will be available.
Admission for the event ranges from $9-$12, depending on age, with toddlers being admitted for free. There are also other amenities for purchase at the fair, including small and large pumpkins for the pumpkin painting activity, for $3 and $8, respectively.
Activities that come free with the admission include the mazes, train rides, bounce houses, slides, a zoo zipline, a scarecrow scavenger hunt, a hay bale fort, stick horse racing and a bubble zone.
Some of the food and vendors available at the event include lemonade, boiled peanuts, barbecue, coffee and frozen delicacies like ice cream and popsicles.
Animals will be abound at the zoo, and participants are allowed to pet them with the price of admission. However, the $5 animal encounters allow a hands-on experience for private groups, such as holding a hedgehog in one’s hand or hanging out with other unusual animals, including lizards, kangaroos, piglets and baby goats.
