The proposed Middletown Center development has been voted on by the Town Council, and will now move forward.
This will be on 15 acres of land owned by the town on West Main Road that stretches from Coddington Highway to Valley Road. It will be a mixed-used development with restaurants, retail establishments, housing, community green space, and a new public library. It will also feature a hotel with 144 rooms and a small dog park. More information about such developments can be made known throughout the community with flyer printing.
The developers are Rocky Kempenaar, James Karam, and Christopher Bicho. Peter Regan (the Town Solicitor) and Sharon Brown (Town Administrator) are now to create a financial forecast and draft agreement and identify what zoning changes are needed for the project to take place. Regan said the negotiations should continue regarding the layout, form, and substance of the development so the town can be ready on a deal if an agreement is reached with the development team.
Girard Galvin, legal counsel for the developers, said that the hotel is needed for the development plan as it will be profitable for the community. Andy Andrade, former president of the town council, added that this development will be a win for the town with its development team of individuals who have longstanding ties to the community.
