Teacher of the Year announced in Middletown

Kristen Pacheco has been selected as Teacher of the Year in Middletown for 2025. She is a math teacher for the sixth grade at Gaudet Middle School (GMS).

Great announcements and PR like this is often made known throughout a school environment and general community with poster printing.

She started her career at the Middle School as a sixth grade math teacher in 2014. She teaches accelerated math, sixth grade math, and an intervention block every day. She is considered to be a pillar of that grade level and has been a significant force at school as she uses data to determine groups of students for intervention and has been very successful. Her colleagues refer to her as “Team Captain” as she has taken the initiative with scheduling, organizing, and planning activities at the grade level, the school, and in the district.

In the classroom, Pacheco is known for making her curriculum accessible to all students and ensuring their mastery of the subject. She has high standards for her students and herself and is always prepared to change her strategies of instruction to get students on track.

Pacheco also holds several leadership positions in the district. She is a SIT Team Member, Cooperating Teacher, Team Coach, and a mentor and a leader in everything related to mathematics. She also works with NEA Middletown, serving as a public relations officer, representative, member of the Budget Committee, and a member of the Negotiating Team, among others.
