Annual fair lets visitors experience history

The 42nd annual Harvest Fair at Coggeshall Farm Museum is taking place next month for two days. The museum lets visitors experience life as it was in the late 18th Century.

Visitors will have to opportunity to play many games that were popular in the 18th century, as well as enjoy hayrides, eat jonnycakes, and take in entertainment.

Among this year's entertainers are musician and storyteller Bill Harley, kids’ author Norah Dooley, and The Ladies of the Rolling Pin, which is an all-female Morris dancing troupe. In addition, there will be heirloom sheep and cattle on display. Craft tables will give visitors a chance to try out some historic crafts.

Arts and crafts vendors will be on hand to sell a variety of items, including handmade jewelry, clothing, and decorations. Vendor spaces are still available for $75 each, $200 for food sellers, and $125 for those selling frozen items and dessert. The vendors are encouraged to give away free sample or hold raffles for visitors.

Many of the vendors, who will likely come from all over the area, including Middletown, may invest in sign printing services from local Print companies to make their booths more noticeable.

The Harvest Fair will be held at Coggeshall Farm Museum from September 19 to 20. Admission is $10 per day or $15 for both, and $7 or $12 for seniors, children and military personnel. Call 401-253-9062 to learn more.
