Upcoming charity events take us back in time

There are two fundraising events taking place in Pittsburgh this April that aim to bring back the splendor of the 1920s.

The first event is ‘A Deco Affair: Puttin' on the Ritz’ which is a fundraiser for the Opera Theater of Pittsburgh. Guests are encouraged to dress in the manner of the 1920s. There will be a cocktail reception with appetizers, an open bar, dinner, and dessert. There will also be silent and live auctions, entertainment from pianist Tom Roberts, and dancing. There are two levels of tickets available: VIP with includes dinner and entertainment for $175, and $75 will get attendees dessert, drinks, and dancing only.

A couple of days later, ‘A Night at the Speakeasy’ is being held to benefit Outreach Teen and Family Services. Set to feature dinner, drinks, entertainment, and auctions, the special guest for the evening will be former Pirates pitcher Steve Blass. Tickets are $100 per person and sponsorships are available.

These two events will no doubt be widely advertised in the Pittsburgh area, possibly with Flyers obtained from local Stationery printers.

‘A Deco Affair’ will take place at the Twentieth Century Club on April 25 from 6:30 pm to 11:30 pm. Contact Lynne Squilla at 412-326-9687 to learn more.
