Even after they have unlaced their boots and hung up their ruck for the final time, veterans may still shoulder a heavy burden, and a Pittsburgh organization wants to ease it.
The Next Chapter Ride for Veterans, which is being organized by Legion Riders and the Zodiac Motorcycle Club, will be held in late August. It will both raise funds and show former military members that their community stands behind them, and all support will be appreciated.
It will be the 4th year this Pittsburgh activity has taken place, and the charity of choice for the occasion will be Pittsburgh Hires Veterans. The starting point will be 650 Isabella Street in Oakmont, and riders can check in half an hour ahead of kickstands going up at 12:00 pm. The registration fee is $20 for bikers and $10 for a passenger.
To thank everyone for their support, the organizers will supply lunch, and there will also be even-split and basket raffle draws. Many event organizers keep a stock of Letterheads on hand for donation requests and other correspondence.
Pittsburgh riders are invited to be part of this salute to its veterans, and it will take place on Saturday, August 29. It will follow a 100-mile round trip route, and all types of bikes are welcome to take on the challenge.
