An upcoming Pittsburgh activity may take a lot of the headache out of the equation of being environmentally friendly.
The Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) will be setting up a hard-to-recycle collection station at Settlers Cabin Wave Pool, and a small fee will be charged for the service. The organization is the Commonwealth’s oldest environmental service group, and it has many years of experience in this type of hands-on advocacy.
Anyone who has large or bulky items that need to be disposed of properly can reserve a spot in the activity, and a different fee will be charged for various pieces. Everything from electronics and fluorescent lighting to tires, small appliances containing freon, and monitors will be accepted, and certificates of hard drive restrictions will be made available upon request. A fee will be levied for this service.
Cash payments will be preferred, and there will be personnel on site to lend a hand if needed.
Ensuring that household waste is properly dealt with is one of the tasks often taken on by local government departments, as well as service groups. A poster printing company can craft promotional materials to post in prominent locations in the lead-up to special community events like this.
The PRC will run this activity on Saturday, September 26. It will start at 9:00 am and continue until 1:00 pm.
