The Startup Weekend Civic Pittsburgh is taking place over three days next month. It is one of many events held globally and is presented by Up Global.
The event is aimed at developers, designers, and nontechnical entrepreneurs who work in teams to solve certain challenges. This year, the challenges are to create products and companies for the public sector.
After an introduction and listening to guest speakers, participants will get together and pitch ideas (each pitch costs $25), and those ideas will then be voted on. They then form teams to work on the top pitches together, and coaches will meet with each of the teams to lend any assistance. After working together for one day, the teams will then make presentations that will be judged, and awards will then be given to those deemed to be the best.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served, which will give those attending some networking opportunities. Many of the participants may even find future business partners.
This event will appeal to entrepreneurs in Pittsburgh and its surroundings. Poster printing firms may be asked to provide products to be distributed in the area.
The Startup Weekend Civic Pittsburgh will be held at the RE 360 Building from September 18 to 20. Tickets are $99 each or $25 for students, which includes the price of pitches. Visit the event website for more information.
