Whether it’s used to make a cup of creamy hot cocoa, added to a cake batter or simply enjoyed on its own, a potluck style evening will give local chocolate lovers a chance to discover new ways to utilize this ingredient. While they do, they may even be able to make some new friends.
Each guest who attends the Pittsburgh East End Food Co-op’s February recipe swap is asked to bring along one of their favorite dishes to share, and the only requirement is that is chocolate be included in the list of ingredients. The organizers explained that, as everyone can bring something to the table, all are welcome, and it can be a fun opportunity to try a new dish.
Along with their culinary contributions to the function, the guests are asked to bring a copy of the recipe so that anyone who enjoys it will be able to prepare it at home for themselves. A fun fundraising idea for an organization is to gather all the recipes used during this sort of evening. These can be compiled by a printing services company into a recipe book to be sold to the general public.
East End Food Co-op has scheduled its celebration of chocolate for February 11. The venue for the activity will be situated at 7516 Meade Street.
