Doors Open Pittsburgh gives the public some insight into the inner workings of their city, and an event this October will showcase one of its law enforcement departments.
The not-for-profit initiative will offer spots in a guided visit to Pittsburgh SWAT, and other special focus units used by its police force. According to its listing, this is an opportunity not usually available to the public, and the guides for the experience will be members of the city’s Police Specialty Units.
During their visit, participants will be treated to a one-hour behind-the-scenes tour of its equipment and facilities, and they will also be supplied with details about how they are used. The Cycle Unit, SWAT, and Collision Investigation teams will all be taking part, and the attendees can ask the facilitators any questions they have. Guests are advised that photography will not be permitted.
Many cities run “Doors Open” programs like these, and they both educate the public and encourage them to become greater stakeholders in their community. Registration Forms, waivers, and informative handouts for such an activity can be readily prepared by area brochure printing companies.
This chance for the public to get a look into local law enforcement from a different angle is taking place on Sunday, October 15. It will be offered at 1517 Woodruff Street.
