Pittsburgh festival to kick off summer reading season

Pittsburgh families who want to give their kids a jump start when it comes to literacy are welcome to be part of an activity that will kick off Carnegie Library’s Summer Reading Program.

The institution has planned a day filled with fun that will highlight the importance of literacy. All ages are invited to be part of the fun, and the list of activities that will be included is extensive.

A group of staff and volunteers will be setting up and facilitating an assortment of different stations. A scavenger hunt is in the works, and there will also be story readings, historical tours, inflatables, balloon artists, and a library registration drive. Light refreshments will be served, and anyone who would like something heartier to eat will be able to purchase a meal at one of the food trucks. These mobile eateries will be donating a portion of the proceeds from their sales to the library.

When planning a community event, organizers can count on being able to obtain poster printing and other marketing services from a local printer. It will be able to produce professional quality products at an affordable price.

This introduction to summer reading season is scheduled to take place on June 12 at 4400 Forbes Avenue. The Free to the People website offers the latest details.
