Pittsburgh families help sought for community art project

An event that will produce a lasting tribute to moms and all they do is seeking input from the public in Pittsburgh.

A teaching artist and scholarship recipient will be lending their talents to an activity hosted by South Fayette Library, and it will have a motherhood theme. It will be a temporary installation showcasing the artistic talent that can be found in the local area.

The library will be distributing rock painting kits to the families who register, and they will then be able to use these to craft painted rocks that follow the suggested theme. These can be picked up from the librarian, and once the stones are completed, they will be added to a large mural. At the end of the event, the artists can take their individual contributions home with them where they can display them in their garden or other area.

Offering the public an opportunity to get involved with a project like this offers a way to build community engagement. A poster printing company will have a variety of methods to promote the function, and it will be happy to discuss this with its customers.

This free activity will take place on May 9. More information can be obtained by contacting the library at 412-960-0461, and everyone is welcome to get involved.
