Local artists flock to Delanies Coffee

September 26 saw the latest edition of the Double Mirror art exhibit at Delanie’s Coffee shop. Double Mirror events feature local artists against a backdrop of live music.

The event is said to be a reflection of the South Side, where it is held, because the unique artwork represents the diversity of the peoples and cultures in the area.

Passersby were enticed to enter the open storefront with sounds of live music. Once inside, they meandered around the coffee house, viewing hundreds of unique works of art, including sculptures, oil paintings, graffiti, and realism.

The first Double Mirror exhibit was in May 2013. The exhibit’s curators, Chris Boles and Karla Lamb, noticed that works of art they had lined along the walls of Delanie’s Coffee house were a popular attraction, and so Double Mirror was born.

Sometimes local Print companies are involved in these types of event. Their services, such as poster printing, help the curators and exhibitors spread the world and encourage people to visit the exhibit.

This is the sixth Double Mirror exhibit. In total, 30 artists from Pittsburgh showcased their talent. To top it off, Camille Zamboni enthralled the crowd with an acrobatic performance.

There is no charge to attend a Double Mirror exhibit. For more information about these events, visit the Double Mirror Facebook page.
