The 22nd Fiberart International exhibition is taking place next month in Pittsburgh, and will run until August. It is a presentation of the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh.
The exhibition features the best in contemporary fiber art from 78 artists in 14 different countries. Included artists were chosen by Chunghie Lee, Arturo Alonzo Sandoval, and Tali Weinberg.
Two opening receptions will be held on May 6 at the Society for Contemporary Art and at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts from 5:30 - 8:00 pm. Guests will have the opportunity to view the pieces on display and meet their creators. Artist Casey Sheppard will be giving a talk at the Society for Contemporary Art event.
The next day the Fiberart Forum will take place. It is set to feature discussions, question and answer periods, and the chance to meet more than 25 of the participating artists. The keynote address will be delivered by Tali Weinberg. Tickets are $50 for the public, $40 for Fiberarts Guild members, and $25 for students. It is likely these events will attract many of those who work for Pittsburgh graphic design companies.
Fiberart International 2016 will take place at the Society for Contemporary Art and the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts from May 6 to August 21. Admission is free. To learn more about this exhibition, contact the Society at 412-261-7003.
