The 2015 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair will be taking place for a week this May in Pittsburgh, presented by the Society for Science and the Public.
There are expected to be approximately 1,700 high school students from 70 countries competing in this year's fair. There will be 17 category awards, including biochemistry, computer science, and physics and astronomy. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top four in each category, and these range from $500 up to $3,000. The overall top winner will receive the Gordon Moore Award and $75,000 cash.
There is also a special awards program that will give out scholarships, internships, and scientific equipment.
The STEM Education and Career Expo, being held concurrently, will give students direction and provide them with the information they need to make a decision on their future. Most of the event is only accessible to participants but there will be one public day.
Organizers may invest in banner printing services from Pittsburgh companies to divide the various exhibits by category.
The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair is being held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center from May 9 to 15. The public day will take place on May 15 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. For more information, visit the Society for Science and the Public's website.
