The El Tigre Fest will be held by the city of Tigard tomorrow as part of the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Hispanic Heritage month recognizes the cultural influence and contributions of Hispanic Americans throughout the history of the United States. About 15% of the population of Tigard identifies as Hispanic, so this festival is an opportunity for the city to support and celebrate this community, including business owners, operators of restaurants, and local artists. Such unique festivals are often promoted throughout a city with poster printing.
Director of Community Development with the Hillsboro Hops, Ivan Hernandez, will be the emcee at the event. Featured will be over 50 vendors selling handmade goods, specialty items, and authentic food. Food will range from pulled pork sandwiches to Mexican baked goods. There will also be live music and entertainment from bands such as Pura Vida Orquesta, Gata Galactica, and Caicedo on the main stage. Attendees will also be entertained by local groups including the Dragon Theater Puppet Show and Flamenco Northwest.
Children will find a Kids’ Zone with games, visits from characters from the Disney movies Encanto and Coco, and arts and crafts. Carnival-style activities and field games will be hosted by the Public Works Department.
The El Tigre Fest will take place from noon to 9:00 pm at Cook Family Park tomorrow (October 5).
