Tigard incentivizes heat pumps for homeowners

The latest community development initiative to reduce carbon emissions has been rolled out by the city of Tigard.

Local homeowners will be given a cash incentive of $11,000 per home courtesy of the Tigard Heat Pump Cash-In Program, helping them install new energy-saving heat pumps in their homes. The Community Heat Pump Deployment (CHPD) Program of the Oregon Department of Energy is making this funding possible through Earth Advantage, a non-profit with over $1.5 million available to give to homeowners to reimburse them for expenses related to the purchase, installation, and weatherization of heat pumps.

Borchure printing can be used to provide more details about such programs and their benefits.

Kenny Asher, Community Development Director of Tigard, said that this program supports those in the city who are looking for less expensive and cleaner energy. Senior Climate Justice Program Manager at Earth Advantage, Molly Hatfield, expressed excitement about welcoming the city of Tigard to the CHPD program. Hatfield said that the participation of the city in this program means that such incentives are now available across a wider area. She added that this supports the overall goal of the program, which is making affordable and cleaner heating and cooling options more widely available throughout the state.

Residents of Tigard can apply for reimbursement as part of this program through the city’s website.
