An event has been planned for Tigard that will give locals and opportunity to dispose of their leaves and perform a good turn for someone in need at the same time.
The 14th annual Tigard Free Leaf Disposal and Food Drive will see city staff accept the drop-off of leaf litter from people’s yards. The public is asked to, if possible, bag leaves up in brown craft paper Bags, which are sold in many of the area’s hardware and grocery stores. They will also be accepted loose, and any that are brought in inside plastic Bags will need to be dumped out at the collection point. A community can use newsletter printing services to create bulletins that keep the public informed about what’s going on in their neighborhood.
Those who plan taking advantage of this free chance to dispose of their yard waste are asked to bring along a donation of a nonperishable food item. The organizers hope that people will be generous, and the contributions will be sent along to the food distribution center run by Tigard’s St. Vincent de Paul.
January 21 has been selected as the date for the event, which will take place at Cook Park, which is located near Tigard High School. More information can be obtained by calling Theresa Reynolds at 503-718-2704 or by visiting the city’s website.
