The Tigard Public Library recently made a move that is making local book lovers, and a lot of other people, very happy.
The institution is once again open to the public seven days a week, which brings things back to the way there were before budget cuts forced it to be closed on Thursdays. That day had been chosen because it tended to be one on which it did not have as many users as other days.
A healthy turnout came out to make use of its services and facilities, which reflects the opinion that many people gave on its annual surrey of its patrons. They expressed that they wanted it to reopen all week.
People can now come out and access the internet, perform a job search, and complete their homework any day they choose. Ad specialties that have a literary theme, such as bookmarks, can be sent out to the people in the community letting them know about the new hours, as well as what services are available and when.
Along with this, there are plans in place to reopen the coffee kiosk on site in the library. Named ‘The Literary Feast’, it serves coffee, tea and other beverages, along with soups, salads, sandwiches, and sweet treats.
The kiosk will open in late January, and a more formal grand opening is set for February.
