Food bank to receive large donation

Landmark Ford Lincoln of Tigard has provided a matching grant for the Oregon Food Bank so that it will soon be receiving a check for close to $35,000.

Jim Corliss, owner of Landmark Ford, said that his business has always helped the community with such efforts as toy and peanut butter drives in addition to volunteers for and monetary donations to the Oregon Food Bank.

The Ford Fund was offering $500,000 in matching funds to employees and dealers of Ford due the pandemic, of which $15,000 was designated for Oregon. As no other organization or business came forward to match those funds, Corliss decided that Landmark would try to do so. In just over three weeks, that amount of money and more was raised by Landmark. Corliss expressed his pleasure and pride in being able to double the funds.

Landmark turned to many online and hard copy printing services to spread the word about the fundraiser. The money came from many sources, including a donation of $2,000 by an individual, one family’s government stimulus check, and $50 for each car sold by Landmark. Consequently, Oregon Food Bank will be receiving a check for $34,490, which will no doubt be welcome as one of its major fundraising events will not take place this year.

Corliss said that the donation drive was very much fueled by the matching funds from Ford.
