Sounds of season at Grottos Festival of Lights

Billed as the world’s largest Christmas choral festival, the Grotto’s Christmas Festival of Lights is a cherished Portland seasonal event that takes place every day from November 29 through December 30 with the exception of Christmas Day.

A walk-through event that covers about one-quarter of a mile, The Festival of Lights offers attendees the sounds, sights and sensations traditionally associated with the Christmas season. Almost 160 indoor holiday concerts will be offered featuring some of the region’s best church, school and civic choirs. Musical selections are family-oriented and a mix of traditional celebratory and reflective songs that represent Christmas as a season of hope.

Banner printing services are particularly helpful at outside events and those large inside venues.

Among the highlights of the event are puppet shows and story times held at the beginning of each hour, and at the bottom of the hour performances by the Grotto Carolers, both of which are held in the plaza tent. Plus, choirs in the chapel.

Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase in the Interpretive Center adjacent to the Chapel and will include donuts, hot chocolate, assorted bagged salty snacks and bottled water.

Average time spent at the event is between 1 and 1.5 hours. Although the entertainment areas are either tented or located indoors, attendees are advised to dress warmly. Admission is $4.95 - $9.95; event hours are 9 am – 5 pm.
