Flying Fish Company to take over Peoples Pig space

The Flying Fish Company is planning to expand its sustainable seafood operation to include a brick-and mortar combination oyster bar, seafood market, and restaurant in the spot presently occupied by The People’s Pig’s second location.

Flying Fish’s journey began in 2011 as a humble Southeast Division Street food cart and then moved up to operating a fish shack on Hawthorne. In 2016, the company opened a lively oyster bar in Providore Fine Foods, a gourmet market. It was recently announced that sometime next spring, the Portland company would take the next step and move into 3004 E. Burnside Street after leaving Providore in late December.

Flyer printing works well for businesses moving from one location to another, as they can be passed out to current customers prior to making the move.

A season menu for the fast-casual family restaurant will include fish sandwiches, fish and chips, clam chowder, grilled salmon salad, steamed clams and mussels, freshly shucked oysters on the half shell, and Hawaiian-inspired poke. The eatery will offer gluten-free fish and chips as well as paleo and keto menu options. In Flying Fish, the bar will serve Pacific Northwest beer, wine and spirits. Both indoor and outdoor seating will be available.

A crowd-funding page has been established at GoFundMe to help Flying Fish raise funds for the project. Gift cards can now be purchased online and at Providore Fine Foods through December 31.
