Finalists for Rose Festival princesses announced

In what could arguably be the first sign of spring in Portland, the finalists for the 15 coveted positions as princesses in the Rose Festival Court have been announced.

Interviews conducted via Zoom have narrowed the field of possible princesses to 15 juniors and 25 senior girls. From among those girls, 15 will be become princesses and one will go on to become the 2022 Rose Queen, with her coronation taking place at the Rose Festival.

Large festivals often involve the local business community and schools, all of which may seek out the services of Print shops to maximize their name recognition, sometimes using multiple Print products.

To qualify to become a princess, the candidate must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, be enrolled at one of the tri-county 4A to 6A schools, and have verifiable community service of 20 or more hours. Contestants were selected from Portland Public Schools as well as Metro East, Metro West, Clackamas County, East Multnomah County, and Washington County schools.

The announcement of the Rose Festival’s Royal Court will begin on February 28 with a princess being announced from East Metro and West Metro schools respectively. Princesses will continue to be announced one each weekday through March 18.

In addition to the honor, and the possibility of being crowned Rose Festival Queen, a $3,500 scholarship will be awarded to each princess.

On June 10, one of the Rose Princesses will become the 2022 Portland Rose Festival Queen.
