Appalachian-style old time music festival in Portland

In Portland, the annual Old-Time Music Gathering will take place in early 2024.

The Old-Time Music Gathering is a volunteer-run festival organized by Bubbaville that serves to celebrate and promote the Appalachian style of old-time stringband musicians.

The festival strives to create an atmosphere such as one would find at a home or around a campfire where friends have gathered to play music and enjoy comradery. It is for this reason that the festival organizers wish to keep the event non-profit and use only volunteers to make the music, take the tickets and manage all the various logistics that bring the Old-Time Music Gathering together.

Print shops can provide a wide range of items for special events, such as banner printing services as well as the printing of tickets and programs.

The Portland Old-Time Music Gathering takes place from January 11-15 at various locations, with a variety of ticket prices. Among the highlights of the festival will be a Cajun/Honkey Tonk Night on January 11 at Mississippi Pizza, and Hubby Jenkins with the Foghorn Stringband in concert on January 13 at Alberta Abbey.

Other scheduled events are the January 12 Friday Night Square Dance, an assortment of workshops on January 13 and on January 15 a special screening of the documentary “The Canote Twins”.

A more complete schedule of event can be found online at Bubbaville’s website, where tickets can also be purchased.
