Medford area event to attract nature lovers

Those who appreciate wild spaces may want to add their name to the list of attendees visiting a privately owned conservation area, accompanied by some subject matter experts.

Whether they enjoy botany, butterflies or both, the Siskiyou Crest Posies and Pollinators outing will give Medford nature lovers lots to enjoy. Admission is by donation, and the group will meet up in the parking lot at the Rite Aid located at 2341 Ashland Street in Ashland.

Participants will be on the hunt for butterflies, bees, and the wildflowers they count on for food, and a botanist, a lepidopterist, and a stewardship expert will lead the way. The group will act as citizen scientists, taking and recording data for the Bumble Bee Atlas database. There is enough space to accommodate 15 hikers, and the trail will be moderate to difficult. It has been requested that pets be left at home, although Certified Assistance Dogs trained by Assistance Dogs International, Inc. will be welcome.

Nature lovers may really appreciate the opportunity to head outdoors and meet others who also enjoy spending time in wild spaces. Organizers often supply them with basic field guides and other ID tools prepared for a function by a local printing services company.

This afternoon of enjoying a Medford area private conservation area has been planned for Thursday, July 11. Its online listing includes a registration link.
