Childrens classic bites into Medford

Medford’s Craterian Theater is hosting Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach Jr. this June.

This musical features a script by Timothy Allen McDonald, based on Dahl’s novel of the same name, and is being put on by the Teen Musical Theater of Oregon.

With an overarching theme of friendship, this fantasy-driven tale includes swashbuckling adventure, giant insects, and a lesson about the power of one’s own imagination in the face of adversity.

The story centers on the titular James, who longs to escape his life of servitude under the repression of his aunts, Sponge and Spiker.

The play features music and words by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the Tony Award-winning team behind Broadway hits, The Greatest Showman, and Dear Evan Hansen.

A lonely child who was orphaned when his parents were tragically killed by an escaped rhino, James longs for friendship and meaning. A chance encounter and a bit of magic change his life, with the help of an oversized peach and a crew of life-sized insects to accompany it.

Plays like this may choose to use brochure printing to create audience programs, season schedules and music Books.

James and the Giant Peach Jr. is playing June 6, 7, 13, and 14 at 3:00 pm each day at the Craterian Theater at The Collier Center for the Performing Arts at 23 S Central in Medford.
