The event is aimed at people who may already have lavender in their garden but don’t know how to take care of it. Teaching the course is Master Gardener Chris Veach, a volunteer through OSU’s Extension Master Gardener program.
OSU said about the event:
“Since becoming a Master Gardener, Chris has gained a great deal of experience caring for the many varieties of lavender in our demonstration garden.”
Organizers encouraged people to bring gardening gloves and pruners, if possible.
Tickets cost up to $15, with fees supporting the OSU Master Gardener Program. The class is limited to up to 10 Jackson County residents. In addition, some may be eligible for a sliding scale fee.
The OSU Oregon Master Gardener Program has a presence in 27 counties in Oregon. It is designed to educate resident volunteers to help them serve their community.
Gardening events like these may choose to use printing services for outdoor labeling of crops or instructional material.
The Lavender Pruning event is happening on July 19 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the OSU Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center in Central Point at 569 Hanley Rd.
