Festival with sweet twist comes to Medford

Medford will host the Oregon Honey and Mead festival at the Edenvale Winery this September.

A family affair, the event includes not only children’s activities, but informational talks, live music, tastings, demonstrations, art and more.

The bands slated to perform at the event include Shybo and the Twisted Vines, the Danielle Kelly Quartet and Mountaintop Sound.

The Edenvale Winery, one of Oregon’s oldest, has a spacious, family-friendly grounds surrounding the main mansion. People of all ages are invited to walk the grounds, taste honey and enjoy the music, while those 21 and older will also be able to purchase mead.

Some of the special guests include Dave Kollen with the Xerces Society who will give a special talk on night pollinators, a talk by local bee advocate Paul Davitt, and two sommelier-level honey tasting tutorials by Delsey Maus and Sharon Schmidt.

Other event activities include art exhibitions, education about native plants, honey available for purchase and food for purchase prepared by Edenvale chefs.

Parking is available at the south entrance of the Edenvale winery.

The Oregon Honey and Mead Festival is happening on September 13 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Edenvale Winery at 2310 Voorhies Road in Medford.
