The Open Streets Corvallis festival is returning in 2025, bringing an invitation for pedestrians and bicyclists to take over public spaces for recreation and activities.
Streets, parks, and other shared areas of the city will be transformed for the festival, bringing paths of travel free from any cars connected to Willamette Park and Lilly Park, the latter of which will be the starting point of a parade. The idea is to make areas of the city normally reserved for commute routes places where people can freely stroll, play or ride their bikes.
The festivities do not stop at simply making open spaces available. There will be oversized games and even carnival-type rides powered by bikes. In addition, live music, dancing, cultural events, and street art pieces will be part of the offerings. Local vendors will also provide food and drink options.
The Open Streets Corvallis festival is in its seventh year. The travel route of the parade that starts at Lilly Park heads south on Southeast Bethel Street, then turns west on Southeast Alexander Avenue briefly before resuming a southward trajectory on Southeast Thompson Street. It then goes east on Southeast Park Avenue and then turns west on Southeast Heron View Street before arriving at Willamette Park.
