Globe-trotting Irish band comes to Corvallis

Solas is coming to Corvallis’ PRAx performing arts venue this March.

The traditional Irish band has graced stages across the world, gaining the praise of music critics such as The Boston Globe.

Debuting in 1996 with their self-titled album, Solas was formed in New York City the year prior, combining Irish folk sensibilities with modern American aesthetics.

Though the lineup of musicians has changed slightly since its inception three decades ago, Solas’ original founding members Seamus Egan, Winifred Horan and John Williams continue to perform with the group, bringing with them newcomers guitarist Alan Murray and vocalist and flute-player Nuala Kennedy.

Drawing from Americana genres like bluegrass and weaving it together with Celtic sounds, Solas has released 12 albums to date, including its 2016 effort All These Years, celebrating the musical act’s 20th anniversary.

That album featured contributions from both its current lineup and former members. After helping start Solas in its early years, original members John Doyle and Karan Casey have since formed a duo of their own with Compass Records, complementing their respective solo careers.

The performance helps support the forthcoming 2026 Corvallis Celtic Festival this summer.

Concerts like this may choose to use printing services to create music sheets, set lists and seasonal schedules.

Solas performs on March 26 at 7 pm the PRAx at 470 SW 15th St. in Corvallis.
