Race day awaits in Corvallis

Runners who like a challenge have a day coming up they will really enjoy.

The upcoming Corvallis Half Marathon-2023 gives participants a choice of four different races: a Family 1K, a 5K Run/Walk, and the 13.1 Half-Marathon that gives the race its name. A virtual race is also an option.

Race organizers reveal that the “Tour de Corvallis” course is almost completely flat, with only two gradual ascents, and two corresponding easy descents. In addition, the entire course is laid out on bike paths, sidewalks, and paved roads, making it one of the flattest, and fastest, races in the area.

The starting times are staggered to avoid crowding on the course. The half-marathon begins at 8:30 am, and the 5K Run/Walk steps off at 9:50 am. The Family 1K is scheduled for 11:30 am, and the virtual event, of course, is conducted at the runner’s discretion.

The annual race is run to benefit a different non-profit organization each year. This year’s recipient is Linn Benton Food Share, which works with a network of 68 non-profits, including supplemental agencies, gleaning groups, meal sites, and food pantries, to distribute food to the local community.

The run is set for April 15 at Reser Stadium located at 660 SW 26th Street. Organizers of this type of outdoor event could use banner printing to create directional signage to mark the course.
