Outdoor music on schedule in Corvallis

An upcoming concert celebrates the outdoors with music.

The Greenbelt Land Trust is the organizer of Music on the Land, an outdoor concert suitable for everyone. The event begins with a welcome address, followed by a concert by Jubilate! Women’s Choir of Corvallis. The choir sings to express human experience and emotion through female voices. Its repertoire includes songs from across the world that range from sacred music to novelty songs.

The DTW Street Band is up next. DTW was established in 2013, and blends swing, R&B, funk, and jazz, inspired by the sounds of New Orleans. Starting as a five-piece band, the group, which is a horn band, now has 10 members.

There will be a brief pause for an address by Jessica McDonald, the executive director of Greenbelt, and then it will be time for the headliners, Outer Orbit. The group is a collective based in Portland that brings funk and soul, influenced by everyone from Emily King and Aretha Franklin to The Meters and Sly Stone.

People may bring their own picnics and beverages, or support local businesses by buying from them. They should also bring a lawn chair or blanket and dress for an outdoor event, but are asked to leave pets at home.

Music on the Land is scheduled for Saturday, June 22, from 4.00 pm until 6.30 pm at Bald Hill Farm. Parking is free, and shuttles will also be available. Organizers of events like this will often use poster printing to create suitable publicity for them.
