Funny woman coming to Corvallis

A standup comedian who finds humor in modern culture will appear soon in Corvallis.

The Corvallis Comedy Night is presenting Emmy Blotnick, who uses her wit to think deeply about subjects that are typically seen in superficial terms. Whether she’s discussing pop music beloved by teens, dog grooming, or the reviews found on Amazon, Blotnick’s takes on the culture of modern America are both hilarious and insightful, arguably more so than the subjects deserve.

Blotnick has performed as a standup comedian on Comedy Central, “Conan,” “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” and appears as a regular panelist on “Wait Wait . . . Don’t Tell Me!”, heard on NPR.

Her work as a writer for “The Late Show” won her an Emmy nomination. She has written for other television shows including “Best Week Ever,” “@midnight,” and “The Comedy Central Roast.” Other writing projects include “Pause with Sam Jay,” see on HBO, Peacock’s “Bust Down,” and Mel Brooks’s “History of the World, Part 2,” seen on Hulu. She was head writer for “The President Show,” seen on Comedy Central.

Several sources, including the New York Times, have dubbed her as someone to watch and a rising comedy star.

Emmy Blotnick will appear December 8 at 7.30pm at the Majestic Theatre. Tickets are priced at $16, and admission is limited to those 18 years of age and older. Promoters of this type of event can use poster printing to create advertising for them.
