Corvallis ready to run for fun

A family-friendly run in Corvallis will raise funds to support city programs.

The Corvallis Turkey Trot 5K and 10K, and the Little Gobblers 1K, are presented by Corvallis Parks and Recreation each year. The run benefits the department’s Family Assistance Scholarship Fund, which helps families and children gain access to programs that enrich their lives, such as the arts, youth sports and swimming lessons.

The course leads through Corvallis’s Willamette Park and the beautiful Crystal Lake Sports Fields, which helps participants work up an appetite for Thanksgiving. The event is open to walkers as well as runners, as well as leashed dogs and children in strollers, making it truly a family event.

The runners taking part in the 10K will line up at 8.55 am, and start at 9.00 am. The 5K runners will line up at 9.05 am, and start their race at 9.10 am. Finally, the Lil Gobblers and warm up and stretch at 8.15 am, and start their race at 8.30 am. The 10K and 5K will start with runners in front and walkers/strollers at the back. The Lil Gobblers course has been created with families and young children in mind.

The Turkey Trot is on Thanksgiving, which is November 28 this year. When they plan events like this, organizers often work with a printer who uses banner printing to create course markers.
