TSO features four eclectic programs

The Toledo Symphony Orchestra (TSO) will present four special programs during April.

Ellington’s Black, Brown and Beige and Idyll & Passion: The Music of Richard Wagner will both be performed April 9 and April 10. The Ellington event will feature popular pianist Stewart Goodyear. Along with the Duke Ellington favorite, Goodyear will perform a Caribbean Suite he has composed called Callaloo, as well as Negro Folk Symphony by William Dawson.

Soprano Measha Brueggergosman will be joined by Toledo’s Music Director Alain Trudel and the Toledo Symphony for an evening of Richard Wagner with touch of Bach. The evening will begin with Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll followed by his Wesendonck Lieder. Next will be Bach’s Passcaglia in C Minor and Gotterdammerug’s Siegfried’s Funeral March.

TSO will also be celebrating Toledo’s Metroparks in a multimedia program titled “Forces of Nature.” The symphony will take the audience on a musical tour through Toledo’s nationally acclaimed parks system. Music will be paired with video and lapse photography. The performance will be April 16 and 17.

On April 25, Toledo ballet dancers starring Juliette Morgan Quinlan will present resident Director/Choreographer Michael Lange’s “Moving Soliloquies,” an evening of Shakespeare. The choreography will be accompanied by Toledo Symphony musicians playing chamber music of Ravel, Grieg, Shostakovich, and Beethoven.
