Toledo celebrates season with giving
Three charity events are being held in early December.
On Friday, December 2, from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm the Toledo Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will be presenting this year’s Joy of Giving Dance. New and unwrapped toys, including African American dolls, will be collected for The Family House and Lucas County Children’s Services.
Tickets are $25, and the event will be at TolHouse, 1447 North Summit Street.
The next day, December 3, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, iHeart Media Toy-A-Thon will take place. All donated toys and monetary donations will go to needy families in Northwest Ohio. The event will have activities, crafts, and local artists performing, as well as live broadcasts.
iHeart Media Toy-A-Thon will take place at the Franklin Park Mall food court, 5001 Monroe Street.
Finally, the National Museum of the Great Lakes will have their annual Christmas Tree Ship event where spectators may watch Santa Claus cross the Maumee River in a decorated tugboat. The boat will dock behind the museum for Sana to meet children and deliver trees.
Families may pre-order trees ranging from five to seven feet tall for $60, and can donate a tree or gift card to families in need.
The Christmas Tree Ship event will be Saturday, December 3 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at 1701 Front Street.
Pictures taken at events this early in the season may still have time to be taken to stationery printers to become seasonal holiday cards.
