Kilt-clad runners to do the Shuffle

Downtown Toledo will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with its annual Shamrockin’ Shuffle. The field has a limit of 3,000 participants.

Toledo “leprechauns” will don their finest kilts and run or walk the three-mile course at night. Those unable to complete the route will be given a shortcut back to the beer tent. The Run/Walk will take place on streets through downtown Toledo. After the run/walk, participants are invited to the street party outside the Blarney Irish Pub.

Swag will include short-sleeve tri-blend leprechaun green T-Shirts featuring the Shamrockin’ shuffle graphic design, glowsticks, Run Toledo Beer Koozies, refreshments, admission to the street party, beer tickets and free photographs. Green plaid skirts with the Shamrockin’ Shuffle Logo Design are also available.

Registration is $32 until tomorrow, February 18, when prices will go up. Proceeds will go to the Firefighters Local 92 Muscular Dystrophy Foundation. This year’s goal is to raise $2,500.

Teams can be created. The team’s name will be submitted, and members can join during registration. Event packets will be available on the Thursday before race day from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Dave’s Running Shop in Perrysburg, and at the starting line on race day from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

The Blarney Shamrockin’ Shuffle will be Saturday, March 18 at 601 Monroe Street, beginning at 8:00 pm.
