Toledo runs 45th Glass City Marathon

Toledo runners will be turning out for the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon coming in late April.

Now in its 45th year, the event will feature a half-marathon, five-person relay marathon, 5K, kids’ marathon and virtual runs, along with the 26.2-mile marathon.

The field has been capped at 2,000 runners in the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon, 1,700 runners in the 350 teams in the YARK Subaru 5-person Marathon Relay, 4,000 runners in the Owens Corning Half Marathon, and 1,700 walkers/runners in the Savage 5K.

Awards will go to winners in 14 age divisions and $1,000 to first, $800 to second, $600 to third, $400 to fourth, and $300 to fifth overall finishers in the marathon. Awards will go the top three finishing teams in all-male, all- female, mixed, family, corporation, and school teams in the five-person relay marathon. Awards will also go to the winners in 14 age divisions and cash prizes will go the first through fifth male and female finishers in the 5K. The first female and males to finish the marathon, half-marathon, and relay in record time will receive additional money.

Finishers in all races will receive medals signifying the race they have completed, and glass Mugs bearing this year’s event’s graphic design.

The 45th Mercy Health Glass City Marathon will take place Sunday, April 24 at the University of Toledo’s Glass Bowl Stadium, beginning at 6:30 am.
