The Toledo Zoo and Aquarium will be presenting its annual Lights Before Christmas starting in a couple of weeks.
Organizers tout this at the area’s brightest Holiday tradition, as the venue will be ablaze with 200 illuminated animal displays and over a million lights. Kroger is sponsoring a Winter Village that will include Bumper Cars on Ice, inner tubes built for two, and an Ice Slide.
The Arctic Encounter will house Santa and his workshop this year. Kids can bring their Christmas lists to discuss with him, and family photos with the Jolly Old Elf will be available for purchase. Families that pose with Santa this month will still have time to take the photos to local printing companies to be made into this year’s Holiday Cards.
Something new this year will be the Scenes of Wonder. This will be 3-D holiday scenes depicting a short holiday story projected on the Carnivore Café wall that will be set to music.
A ceremonial green tree lighting in the garden area will be a light of support for veterans.
The afternoon and evening event will begin on Friday, November 17 and run until December 31. Sunday through Thursdays’ hours will be from 3:00 to 8:00 pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 3:00 to 9:00 pm. The Green Tree Lighting Ceremony will be Thursday, December 7 at 5:00 pm.
