ProMedica Masterworks, a music series presented by Toledo Symphony, will begin its 2022 season with New Year, New World, in mid-January.
In order to highlight America’s rich musical legacy, the program will include Native American and African American-inspired melodies, including Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” composed by Antonin Dvorak, “Knoxville: Summer of 1915” by Samuel Barber, and “Three Spirituals for Orchestra” by Adolphus Hailstork.
The Toledo Symphony will be directed by JoAnn Falletta and the special guest will be Janinah Burnett, a world-renowned soprano.
In-person tickets range from $22 to $50 and streaming tickets are available for $19.99. Both may be purchased online at the Toledo Symphony website.
ProMedica Masterworks Series has six more performances scheduled for 2022. They include Canadian Brass on February 18 and 19, Tchaikovsky’s Fifth with violinist Benjamin Beilman on March 4 and 5, and Petrushka on April 1 and 2. Other performances will be Historias de Espana on April 30, Romantic Rhapsodies with pianist, Jean-Philippe Sylvestre, on May 13 and 14, and America in the Key of Gershwin featuring pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin on June 3.
