The Toledo Symphony will be offering works from eclectic genres of composers during the first part of April.
On April 5 and 6, starting at 8:00 pm, the symphony will present Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 in A Minor, Op. 56, known as the Scottish Symphony. This musical romp through the Scottish countryside will be conducted by Giordano Bellincampi. The guest for the evening will be the internationally-acclaimed pianist, Leonardo Colafelice, who will be playing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in C Major, Op. 15. Luigi Cherubini’s Overture to Medee in G Major will also be on the program.
A week later the symphony will switch gears and present an evening of music by Billy Joel. The conductor for the evening will be Daniel Brier. Guest for the evening will be Michael Cavanaugh, the lead Joel hand-picked to star in Movin’ Out, which was the singer’s Broadway musical. Cavanaugh has also been named Billboard’s “the new voice of the American Rock and Roll songbook,” and will sing selections such as Longest Time, Uptown Girl, and You May be Right. This program will be on April 13 from 8:00 pm until 10:00 pm.
Many large corporations give season tickets to events such as these to their high-end clients. Both performances will be at the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle at 2445 Monroe Street.
