The Toledo Museum of Art, 2445 Monroe Street, has a full schedule of multi-sensory exhibits during January 2020.
Director of Curatorial Affairs, Halona Norton-Westbrook and Manager of Programs and Audience Engagement, Scott Boberg are jointly curating the installation titled, “Everything Is Rhythm.” This multisensory display explores the relationship between music and art. Several abstract paintings from the 20th Century have been paired with carefully chosen music. The combinations foster a closer contemplation of the link between art and music. Admission to this gallery will be free. The exhibit will run until February 23 in the New Media Gallery.
Anila Quayyum Agha, a Pakistani-American artist, uses intricate patterns of shadow and light in her three gallery-sized installations. Her one exhibit, This is Not A Refuge!, resembles a small house and features a an audio component and bright bulbs. One of the other exhibits is titled “The Greys in Between” is composed of octahedron and octahedron geometric shapes to symbolize Islamic architectural motifs.
Guests can be transported into Yayoi Kusama’s “Fireflies on the Water” installation. The installation utilizes mirrors and lights to create a site-specific experience that investigates the relationship between, self, space, and infinity. This exhibit requires timed-tickets and will end April 26th 2020.
