Toledo Roadrunners and Metroparks will be presenting The Under the Blueberry New Moon 5K which will be kicking off in a few days.
This will be a unique opportunity for local participants to run or walk at night under a full moon. The 5K route will be well-lit with special lighting from glowsticks, and a limited number of giant glow sticks will be given out to the first few runners. All runners are encouraged to deck themselves out in glow attire. There will be no official scoring or timing as this will be purely a fun run and everyone can go at their own speed.
Naturalists will be along the route to explain some interesting facts about what may be along with you in the night woods.
Those in the run and those who are supporting them will be enjoying other activities such as blazing bonfires, apple cider, s’mores, music, and donuts.
Adult admission will be $5 and kids ages five and under can run or walk free of charge. Registration is required.
Those interested in the Under the Blueberry New Moon 5K Run/Walk will mark their Calendars for Tuesday, August 22. The event will be at the Swan Creek Preserve, 4301 Airport Highway, Toledo. The start line will be in the Airport Highway parking lot, and all runners and walkers must begin at 9:30 pm. The event will close at 10:30 pm.
