Toledo race will benefit Police K9s

The Toledo Police Department is remembering K9 police dog Falko, who died on duty in 2015, by hosting a 5K run to raise money for equipment and training for their K9s.

The community and local businesses can also support the event through donations on the event website. Businesses can solicit participation by posting Flyers in their break rooms and storefronts to provide employees and customers details of the race.

K9s play a crucial role in any police department and often win the hearts of civilians for their trust and loyalty. Handlers become attached to their dogs and devote many hours to training. Events such as this help the department raise funds to support the K9s development.

Those wishing to participate for the event must register on-line by midnight on July 9. Registration fee is $25 to walk or run in the event, or $30 if you wish to participate with your K9s, which is highly encouraged for this event. Registration is also available on the day of the event, however the cost will be an additional $5 for each category.

The race will take place at Ottawa Park, 2145 North Cove at 9:00 am on Saturday, July 15. All four legged participants must be on a leash during the race. Race results will be available on the organizer’s website as well after the event.
