The 2021 Solheim Cup will be coming to Toledo at the end of August.
The biannual event is a tournament consisting of the top 12 LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) players versus 12 LET (Ladies European Tour).
Practice rounds will take place Tuesday through Friday with competition rounds Saturday through Monday.
The weeklong event will kick off with Solheim After Sundown Downtown on Tuesday, August 31. After the first day of team practice, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Hensville Park in Downtown Toledo will feature grilling, music, and silent and live auctions. Proceeds will go to the Danbury Treasure Chest.
The Opening Ceremony is planned for Friday, September 3 at Promenade Park. More than 25 local restaurants featuring special celebratory Menus, and a large bar situated over Levis Square Park fountain, will be selling food and beverages. Some other activities will include an Art Alley, Imagination Station animations, live entertainment, and an LPGA Girls Golf Foundation expo. Gwen Stefani will perform starting at 8:15 pm, followed by a display of fireworks at 10:00 pm. Gates will open at 2:00 pm and the ceremony will begin at 5:00 pm.
Fans of popular performers often wear merchandise featuring the vocalist’s Logo Design or graphic design.
On the Saturday and Sunday, four foursome and four fourball matches will take place. On the final day, September 6, there will be 12 single matches and the closing ceremony.
The LGPA Sonheim Cup will be at the Inverness Club, 4601 Dorr Street and runs from August 31 to September 6.
