It is coming to the time of year when Toledo lights up for the holidays. Two of the major lightings will be Hensville Lights and The Lights before Christmas.
Hensville Lights is in full array for the third season. Over 200,000 lights are adorning the buildings between Monroe and Washington Streets. More than 10,000 lights are decorating the park, including a 45-foot Christmas tree and a light show synchronized to music. The scene is so picturesque that the event organizers suggest taking Christmas photos here. The photos can then be taken to local Print shops in order to be made into 2018 Christmas cards.
Lights Before Christmas features animated displays, over a million twinkling lights, and an ice slide. The renovated tunnel will have a reopening ceremony and ice carving masters will be shaping ice masterpieces on the main plaza. Santa will arrive daily either on the train or by zip line. He can be found literally in aquarium – quite literally – as he dives with the sharks, and will be available for photos in the Arctic Encounter.
Hensville Lights is currently in progress at Hensville along St. Clair Street and will remain lit until January 6.
Lights Before Christmas will be at the Toledo Zoo and Aquarium, 2 Hippo Way from November 23 to December 31. Saturday through Thursday hours will be 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, while Friday and Saturday hours will extend until 9:00 pm.
